exist to teach youth archery to all interested individuals. Most provide
equipment for beginners to use, and follow the NAA guidelines to insure safety
and fun.

CC-JOAD has been in existence since 1995. It boasts over forty members, at
present.
We have also received two NAA grant awards and various local and regional grants to
promote archery in South Texas.

The Shooting Stars Over Texas JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) is a program
offered through the NAA (National Archery Association) to promote the sport
of archery. Our program offers basic instructions, recreational and
tournament level training, and a safe environment to learn the sport of
archery. The Shooting Stars over Texas JOAD Club is sanctioned through the
National Archery Association and is located in Tyler, Texas. We offer several
types of programs as outlined below.
For the beginner/recreational archer, ages 8-18, we will offer a basic
program of instruction and guidance to teach the basic skills of archery
while insuring safety and encouraging a fun time. Dues include basic
instruction and all equipment.
For the more advanced archer, we will offer a program of coaching, training,
and instructions in tournament skills. Advanced archers are encouraged to
participate in the JOAD ranking program that will offer goal setting,
accomplishment award certificates, and merit badges. Dues include individual
score tracking, award certificates, all equipment if needed, and a team
environment.
For the senior archer, those folks 19-90, we will offer a Senior Training
Program to teach the basic skills to beginner archers. For those experienced
archers, we offer a safe place to practice and enjoy the lifetime sport of
archery. Shoot for a goal or just shoot for fun.
JOAD Dues: 5.00 per session. Equipment Rental: $2.00 per session
Shooting Star JOAD will meet every other Saturday at the Tyler Archery Club
range located on County Road 272, off Highway 64 just before the Oil Palace.
Turn left across from Hicks Lawn Mower Service on CR 272 then left between
10178 and 10182 CR 272, look for Target signs.

Club Background: Texins Archery Club (TAC) was originally created as an employee benefit for Texas Instruments and affiliates in the 1960's.
In the late 90's, TI spun off its club organizations under the umbrela organization Texins Association as a 501-C non-profit club.
The property is still owned by TI and the club enjoys a longterm lease.
Instruction & Activities
We have Kids and Adult bows for loan. Equipment may be loaned during lessons/clinics, for two hours on Saturdays, or by rental for two week interval (membership and deposit required). Parents must remain at the range for anyone under the age of sixteen.
JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) Clinics sponsored by PSE, Mathews, and TruGlo.
This instruction program is designed as a regular supervised class for all school aged children, and beginner adults. The club has twenty certified instructors who review form and safety in an effort to build confidence, proficiency, and consistency. Sessions are scheduled for ages 6 - 11, and ages 12 and up. All equipment is supplied but you may bring your own too. Parents must remain at the range during the sessions for anyone under the age of sixteen, and may find it fun to also participate. Non-members pay $10, and club members pay $5, per session. Mission: Promote archery by increased exposure within the community.
We provide a convenient, interesting, safe, and economical place to shoot.
Our programs are designed to increase knowledge of the sport and improve individual skill. We offer opportunities for family involvement, youth development, organized competition, and hunting adventures. Ongoing events are scheduled to introduce the public to archery and hunter safety.

Besides encouraging a friendly family environment, we are your resource for what is going on in archery. We keep you informed of tournament competition opportunites, host the only area JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) outdoor program and Olympic FITA range. We sponsor the NASP (National Archery in Schools Program). Bowhunters will enjoy our broadhead and treestand ranges; and club organized hunting trips!
